At the helm

Tiri Group is under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Kevin Tennant and Finance Director Rob Astley. Kevin and Rob have been involved with the group since its inception.

They work with Tiri's Executive Chairman, Nelson based businessman Tom Sturgess, who purchased the group outright in June 2007.

Rob, Kevin and Tom work with the General Managers of each business, who are identified on the right, to strengthen each business's market position.

Before immigrating to New Zealand in 1996, Tom was involved with a number of companies in various roles ranging from Chairman, CEO, President and co-owner. The companies included United Stationers Inc, Redman Industries Inc, RBP Holdings Inc, Wingate Partners of Dallas, Swift Independent Corp and Friona Industries.

In partnership with Mercury Capital No. 1 Fund, Tom/Tiri have recently announced the acquisition of Blue Star's NZ print companies (effective Jan 2013) including Webstar, McCollams, Nicholson Print, Format, Printlink, Spectrum, Panprint & Blue Star (print management & distribution).

Tom is also a significant pastoral land owner of Lone Star Farms with eight sheep & beef farms (around 130,000 stock units) from Wairarapa to Otago.

Tom is Chairman of New Zealand King Salmon Inc. and was previously a Board Member of Goldman Sachs JB Were (NZ) Private Equity Fund and Executive Chair of A&R Whitcoulls Group Holdings Pty Limited.
